Golf's Most Obscure Rules
game of golf there are those obscure rules that require their own interpreter. We're all pretty much know the basics. Three off the tee if you hook your Titleist into the drink. Play as if it is (mostly). Only 14 clubs in the bag and so on. However, the rules of golf, when he actually read, reminiscent of something out of the official part of the law or city regulations. They do not always make sense and very often does not appeal to reason. There are many strange and ambiguous rules that you might just want to keep an eye on the next time you have a side bet with a friend. Here are my Top 10 Rules of Golf cover-up: (All the USGA ).
10) Decision (4-3/7) states that a golfer can replace a club that breaks when broken in the normal course of play, or relied on. If you are breaking the clubs, and relying on them, you have more problems than just bent 5 iron.
9) If you happen to hit a shot not in the St. Lawrence River, and the ball begins to move, Rule 14-6 (Ball moving in water) states that you can make a stroke to move the ball but was not allowed to delay making your stroke to allow the current to improve your ball position or lie. A hit and get out ... Or better yet just take a drop.
8) You crack open a $ 60.00 box of Pro V and draw a number 1 You can tee it and put it into the same bunker as a playing partner. Enter the bunker only to find out that your partner has also played a Pro V 1 and none of you put identifying marks on the ball. Rule 12-2 states that both balls are now considered lost, and that both players are penalized a stroke and must go back and hit his third shot from the tee. (You can choose your new ball, because it's not really lost ).
7) It is okay to hit other players on the course, but Rule 19-2b states that if a golfer hits himself with his own ball throughout the game, two-stroke penalty is administered. Wait until after the stroke ends to beat over it.
6) gained traction or Shanks? No problem, 19-3/1 rule stipulates that if a player happens to hit an opponent who is standing in the way and beyond, with his shot and the ball comes to rest outside, there will be no penalty and the player has the right to repeat his blow. Proper etiquette, however, states that the term 'prior' will be used to warn of the upcoming opponent Floggin 'your noggin.
5) According to the USGA definition, the holes made by burrowing animals like groundhogs and rabbits are considered abnormal ground conditions and are subject to relief. However, the holes of the dogs (or other non-burrowing animals) are not considered abnormal and, therefore, no relief is available. Call the local unit of CSI actually found guilty of the hole before you continue.
4) According to the rule, 2-1/2 hole can actually play and not to count a stroke! Player gets two handicaps on the par 3 you can get 0 or -1 if he gets 2 or as. Beware Sandbagger.
3) The rule states that players 8-1/15 Caddy is well within the rules of the club and to swing to show the player how to play the shot. If your Caddy Tiger Woods, I think the spirit of the game is to figure out shot himself. That's the whole point!
2) as you approach the bunker you just sailed his tee shot, you might notice that all is not lost as the ball seems to have a good lie. As fate would have it, a gust of wind blows and blows some pine cones off a nearby tree. One of them is going to land directly behind the ball. Common sense dictates that you should be able to move the cone. However, Rule13-4/18.5 says otherwise. You may not remove the new object is placed there because they work from "outside agency. Instead, it is a natural phenomenon and must be played as it lies. What you need to do is whistle for the dog who made a hole in the # 5 and get him to reach across to you.

...for all its quirkiness and oddities, golf is still the most fun and games in the world. Rational or not, the rules governing our beloved sport is actually added to its character. What other sport allows you to get the police, and the provisions for 'spit' the dangers and penalties of 'non-burrowing animals? Take it or leave it, there's a little golf in all of us.
